A PRACTICAL Way That YOU Can Help...
Her mother died when she was 8 ... she was sent to work as a “house-help” in someone’s home - in exchange for food and shelter.
Obviously, schooling was out of the question!
And the list goes on... Each of the ladies in our Girls With Vision has her own story. Most weren’t blessed with the opportunity of an education. This is often where the trap was set that has held them in poverty.
Many have an illusive dream - perhaps some day, they will learn to read! As has happened so often, we are watching God’s plan unfold and just sit back in wonder - because HIS plan and dream for these ladies is so much bigger than ours!
And so, this month, we have hired a teacher!
Yes, Girls With Vision is in the process of starting a SCHOOL!
We all sit back and reel with the amazement - and the most excited are the ladies (and teens) who faithfully arrive at 7am to learn!
We see now that God has been setting the stage for this for a long time now - we are learning as we walk and recognize that GOD is the one who is at work here!

When I wrote Stella’s story, we had such a huge response - people wanted to help her get that education she longed for! As we looked into the cost of sending her, we realized that there are many more who also dream of learning! For a little more, we could hire a teacher and thus allow anyone who wants to, to also get an education.
We charge a little each month from the students - because there is dignity in this. The members of Girls With Vision are able to pay that fee as they make jewelry.
Our end goal is that this school will be self sustaining.
Right now though, as we set up, and until we have the necessary number of students, we are in need of some help.
If you would like to assist in the launch of this project, we would be SO grateful!
Tax deductible gifts can be sent to MVI - through the link on the sidebar of this blog (in the memo, write Girls With Vision, Kenya).
If you prefer, you can send through pay pal as well - bcmatlack@aol.com
Thank you to each of you who has already expressed interest! We welcome you to walk this journey with us as we continue to share stories of God’s faithfulness on this blog. We know this was only HIS idea - we never imagined it ourselves!
