A couple weeks ago, Brad got kind of a last minute call to fill in and preach at the prison.  I have to admit that I was a little frustrated - our Saturday afternoon as a family had to give way so that Brad would have some time to prepare.

I was humbled the next morning when I got his call... 12 prisoners had responded to the call for salvation that morning!  We rejoiced together, as we recognized God's hand, God's work!

This Sunday, our joy was even more complete!  It hardly seemed real - we got to worship at out church next to Stanley - one of those 12 men!  He had been released from prison the week after Brad preached.  Brad was able to meet him on the morning of his release with the gift of a Bible, some basic necessities and bus fare to get home.  Also, and more importantly, they were able to pray together before Stanley left.  Now, we rejoice to see that he is continuing on the path to the only real freedom he will ever find... a relationship with God!

Please pray with us for Stanley - for his journey of faith, for a job, and for his family!

  1. Wow! What an amazing story of Salvation. God's ways are truly not our ways. Keep up the good work the Matlack's. I pray for you that God will continually bless you in a very special way as you give of yourselves to His mission.
I met Sam and Nate yesterday at church and they were just beaming with happiness. Sam promised me a bird; though as soon as his trap is fixed :) [It doesn't seem to be working very well now :)]
God bless and have a fantastic week.
